Another card

This is my card for Tamara's weekly card sketch. Have I mentioned how much I like being on the design team? :) It helps me get in the card making mood every week and I'll be able to have a stash of cards for all the birthdays in the family and for whatever else. Anyways, here's another birthday card. I got to use my grungeboard that I picked up last month on this one. I did a crackle paint finish on it, so fun.

And the winner of the card virtual crop is...

Kim! One of my fellow wisconsin scrappers! Congrats Kim, you did an awesome job on all the cards you made for the crop, especially for a newbie card maker!

Here's a couple of the cards she made for the crop. I love the embossing she did on these which has helped me make up my mind on whether to get a cuttlebug or not :) Hopefully my new bug will be in my possession next week woohoo! I also loved the bella stamp Kim used on the 1st card, I think I might just have to pick me up some of those hehe.

I'd like to also congratulate the winners of the card VC from the wisconsinscrappers site. There was a tie! Congrats to Andrea & Leah for being the card vc queens! And the prize drawing for participating in the card vc on the site went to Sara!
I just want to put a plug in for www.wisconsinscrappers.com, if you're from Wisconsin and want to join a message board, join us at wisconsin scrappers. There is an awesome group of ladies over there to chat with we have virtual crops regularly, swaps occasionally, some fun chatting with fellow scrapbookers and we even have crops throughout the state that some of us have met each other personally at.

Challenge #4 - Sketches

I love card sketches, they really help me get my cards made. For this challenge, find a card sketch online (or make your own), post in the comments a link to your sketch and the card you made from the sketch. If you don't know where to find some sketches, I have a few links listed on my blog you could check out.

Here's one that I made, it was a sketch from scrapfreaks.

Challenge #3 - Fibers

Ok, I'll admit it, Ive been slacking on the VC on my blog. I was waiting to see if I would get any participants thought before I added more challenges and I see this evening that I have comments! So here's another challenge.

Add some fiber to your card.

Here's a card that I did with fiber.

Card Challenge #1 - What inspires you

For this challenge find a "spring" object for inspiration and create a card from it. Examples for inspiration could be a piece of clothing, an ad, nature, candy, etc. Just make sure it is something springy to inspire you for making your card. You might like the shape of your inspiration, the colors, the lettering, maybe the trim, buttons or ribbon on a piece of clothing and so on.

Leave a comment with a link to your blog or photo of what you used for inspiration, also state what part of your inspiration piece you used on your card.

Here's my inspiration

And here is my card.

I punched out an oval with my scallop oval punch like the oval on the package. The colors were also inspiration and the little flower jewels & dew drops give the card a little bit of glitz like the foil wrappers on the chocolate. The paper is Daisy D's Salt Water Taffy, dew drops are Robin's Nest & the stamped images are Studio g.

Now lets see what you can come up with!

Do you like making card & prizes?!

I've got an opportunity for you! I am hosting a virtual card making crop on my local message board and I've decided to carry it on to my blog. I know there are people who lurk on here hehe.

Here's how it's going to work, I will post challenges here on my blog. All you have to do is complete the challenge and post a link (either to your blog or a photo hosting site) to your completed card in the comment area of the challenge post. The challenges must be posted by 12:00 midnight CST Monday, March 17th.

Now for the good stuff :) I will do a final prize drawing on all the entries (all challenges will be combined) and the winner will receive a little gift of card making related goodies!

Keep checking the blog throughout the day, I may post more than one challenge each day and the more challenges you post the more opportunities you'll have to win. Only one prize drawing entry per challenge though. (in other words, if you do 5 card for the same challenge, you'll only be entered into the prize drawing once but if you complete 5 different challenges you'll be entered in the prize drawing 5 times)

Yay! I can't wait to see everyone's cards & to maybe get to know some of you who lurk on my blog :)

Some cards

I got a couple cards done last night that I wanted to share. The first one is for Tamara's card sketch #35. The owls & branches are a new Hero Arts clear stamp that I just picked up & I did some playing around with my new watercolor pencils on this one too, which I need more practice with. The 2nd one is a sample for my lss. I used some scraps from the Easter layout. I did get another card made tonight but didn't get it downloaded. Im trying to get ready for the card virtual crop that Im hosting this weekend over at wisconsinscrappers.com, so I'll have lots of cards to share this weekend.

In the spirit of spring

Spring will come...someday, at least it hasn't snowed in awhile. I started making sample layouts for my lss. I got some Reminisce Easter stuff to play with tonight and made these two layouts. The darling little girl is my niece's niece, she is a doll. I used a couple sketches to make this 2 page layout, for as quick as I put it together I think it turned out alright.

Card sketch 34

I've been in such a slump lately with my scrapping. I really need to get back into it, I have monthly goals set that I just have not been keeping. Maybe I can get back on track. At least I got my card done for Tamara's card sketch this week, here it is. It's a masculine birthday card that I might give dh since his bday is tomorrow.
